pizzazz Email APIs

If your company needs to integrate the Pizzazz Email platform directly into your existing infrastructure (such as your e-commerce or publishing system), you can use one of the Pizzazz Email Application Programmer's Interfaces (APIs).

There are currently four APIs available, all providing similar features but designed to support different ways of communicating with the core Pizzazz Email email publishing platform.

Java API
• Object-oriented
• Platform agnostic
• Built-in encryption
• Programmatic

Web Services API
• HTTP GET/POST-based
• Platform and language agnostic
• Integrated test harness
• Designed for rapid integration

FTP APIs
• Batch oriented
• Supports CSV and XML
• Platform and language agnostic

Common uses of APIs include:

• Integrating content with existing publishing systems
• Connecting customer-based subscription services with Pizzazz Email
• Connecting ecommerce-based data with Pizzazz Email
• Synchronizing customer-stored data with data stored at Pizzazz Email
• Delivering real-time one-off (personalized) data-driven email messages such as search results, shipping notification, product availability, etc.

pizzazz Email Java API

If your company needs to integrate the Pizzazz Email platform directly into your existing site's infrastructure (such as your e-commerce system), you can use the Pizzazz Email Application Programmer's Interface (API).

Features available through the API include:

• List creation and editing
• Template creation and editing
• List and template enumeration
• List management (testing, running)
• Data collection
• Subscriber additions and deletions
• Import and Export functions
• Exclusion list management
• Real-time e-mail delivery (acts like an SMTP service with templates)

The Pizzazz Email API is delivered as a Java JAR file and is compatible with almost any operating system running Java. Connecting the Pizzazz Email API to an existing Java-based product is as simple as insuring that the JAR file is in the CLASSPATH and using one of the classes. For applications deployed using Microsoft’s ASP platform you’ll need to create a COM object that you can call directly from VBScript (or similar scripting language). We can help you with that task if needed.

The Pizzazz Email API is a secure, encrypted, session-based transport layer between your site's backend systems and Pizzazz Email.

For simpler system-to-system interaction, Pizzazz Email also offers a web services API (see below).

Pizzazz Email Web Services API

If your company needs to integrate the Pizzazz Email platform directly into your existing site's infrastructure (such as your e-commerce system), the Pizzazz Email Web Services Application Programmer's Interface (API) can be used.

Clients use the API through common HTTP commands like GET and POST. Security is provided through a system generated non-dictionary-based password scheme. The API can also be used through SSL.

Features available through the API include:

• Subscriber additions and deletions
• Real-time e-mail delivery (acts like an SMTP service with templates)
• List and template enumeration

The Pizzazz Email Web Services API is easy to use and a test harness is available. For more sophisticated system-to-system interaction, Pizzazz Email also offers a native Java-based API featuring session-based encryption and more features. Click here to review all of the available APIs.

For questions about the API or to request technical assistance, send e-mail to security@pizzazzemail.com. If you're already a customer, request help through the Customer Care option on the site's Customer Center tab.

java

Our Java API is a rich, object-oriented interface to the entire platform. Compatible with Java 1.2 and later, the Pizzazz Email Java API allows its clients to interact and work with the platform to manage subscribers, content and lists. It's ideally suited to clients requiring back-end integration between their existing ECRM or POS systems or clients building rich Swing or SWT-based applications as front-ends to the Pizzazz Email platform. The exchange of data is protected using a session-based model with strong encryption.

.NET

If you're building user interfaces or backend applications around any of the Microsoft .NET languages (C#, J#, Visual Basic, etc.), then the Pizzazz Email .NET API will be a natural and easy tool to integrate into your development plans. It offers the same object model as the Java API and allows its clients to directly manage subscribers, content and lists. Documentation and code examples show users how to begin using the API directly from Visual Studio. The exchange of data is protected using a session-based model with strong encryption.

FTP

Many functions related to email and content management can best be served through batch-oriented processing of CSV and XML data files. The Pizzazz Email FTP APIs support a rich model of controlling subscriber and list information through data files prepared offline and then deposited into work areas using FTP. Ideal for clients that interface with external tracking solutions or wish to integrate catalog or POS data. The Pizzazz Email FTP API interfaces are robust, extremely flexible, and fast.

SIMPLE WEB SERVICES

Many clients seek an interface that can be easily integrated into their existing backend application using nothing more than HTTP. Designed expressly for these situations, the Pizzazz Email Simple Web Services API presents its users with a command interface that can be controlled by any language or platform capable of performing HTTP GETs and POSTs of data. Detailed documentation and a web-based test harness accompany the API.

SOAP/XML

For clients capable of working with SOAP, the Pizzazz Email SOAP/XML API offers them a rich, object oriented and language neutral interface for controlling subscribers, lists and content within the platform.
